BRIDAL // Bell Tower with Jevon

I’ve been to Bell Tower countless times when they’ve held an open house since a friend of mine is getting married there soon, but this was my first time actually shooting there yesterday. There’s so many locations to take photos at, I didn’t know where to start. I used natural lighting for most of these being that we were fairly limited on time, and the less I had to prep the better. Jevon did an OUTSTANDING job, which definitely made my job easier. If I wouldn’t have known any better I would have assumed she has done this before, but surprisingly it was her first time. In addition, the hair, makeup, dress, and even the homemade bouquet were all perfect, which all made for a perfect set of photos. Enjoy!

WEDDING // Peris and Rania

While I was on vacation in Greece, one of my cousins got married and I did him the favor of capturing his wedding (: I was very limited to space while traveling there, so I was limited to just one flash and a couple lenses, but I tried to make the most out of it. It’s a nice change of atmosphere shooting something in a completely different hemisphere. I’d love to have the opportunity to travel more and shoot weddings, but I think I’ll be staying in Houston for the time being. What I found a little odd is that no one over there does engagement shoots. When I brought up the idea of doing one, they thought it was a little weird, so we just stuck to the standard wedding day coverage.

The typical tradition in the town they got married in, was to walk the bride up to the church, where everyone wishes you good luck and congratulates you on the wedding. The whole town is usually invited to the ceremony, and then the relatives and what not to the reception. Enjoy the photos!

VACATION // Trip to Greece!

I’m finally back after visiting family in Greece for over a month. It still feels as if I’m “visiting” Houston right now as opposed to actually living here, but soon as I start working again and hanging out with all the usual folks I’ll feel right back at home (: The trip was all sorts of fun, I got to see tons of new places as opposed to staying in the little town that I’m from like I usually do. The weather is hot, but since there’s no humidity it’s definitely bearable. Gas over there is around $8.20 a gallon for regular which I thought was nuts. The food was probably my favorite part, I think I gained a couple pounds while I was over there but ah well!

Walking over to a hidden beach

Can’t really tell in the pic, but one tiny slip and you could get hurt pretty easily. I found out flip flops and rocks don’t work that great together.

These two rocks were randomly stacked together.

Another hidden beach. I liked this one better because you could go in really far and still be up to your waist. Most of the other beaches, 10 feet in and the water was up to your head.

My cousin would always go spear fishing, this was one of his catches.

He also cooked a ton for us. This is the start of me gaining some weight finally.

Whenever we were bored, we’d go fishing. We never really caught much, but it was a nice way to pass the time and always gave me some good photo opportunities.

Visiting my cousins farm, this dog was there to keep the foxes out from killing the chickens.

And this kitty killed all the rats.

This one never wanted to leave my feet for some reason (:

Grilled octopus + olives + cucumbers + cheese + fish = <3

I’m not too big on alcohol though so while they drank Ouzo, I stuck to juice.

I don’t know how they do it.

Stuck my hand out the window while riding passenger and didn’t look in the view finder, and these two shots are what I got.

Probably the best food I ever had in my entire life. The recipe is simple, it’s just chicken wrapped in bacon, but I’ve never had such juicy bacon and chicken before. They would literally melt in your mouth. I guess it’s part of the animals being naturally raised without any type of drugs to enhance growth and what not.

Waiting around for the fish to bite, I got a little bored and did some light painting with my phone (:

No light pollution = tons of stars at night.

Everything always looks so relaxing.. I did a lot of that but now it’s time to get back to work!

WEDDING // Lisa and Jeff

As you may have read in my previous post, I’m leaving for vacation today. The flight is 13 hours and it feels impossible to sleep in there sometimes. I decided to pull an all nighter which led to editing some wedding pics I did last month. I was the assistant for my buddies over at JHPhotography and responsible for capturing everything at the grooms house, as well as everything else during the ceremony and reception. I went a little bit more wild with some of the editing but it just so happened to work perfectly with some of these pics. Enjoy!

ENGAGEMENT // Martha & Omar

First and foremost, I just want to mention to everyone that this is going to be my last post for a while. I’m leaving to go visit family in Greece until late August 2010 so I might not be able to reply to the emails as timely as before. There’s a few weddings I still need to post, but I’ve been busy getting everything together to head out so here’s a quick engagement session for now.

Martha and Omar were just a hoot and a holler, and a lot of the pictures tend to reflect that. These were taken on Sunday and edited the same day right after I got home since my plane leaves tomorrow. There really wasn’t ever a dull moment with them. We had planned to start a little earlier, but both all of us were glued to our TV’s watching the World Cup but in the end everything worked out great. We started off in the downtown area since we were looking for an old rusty type look, but eventually, I tricked them into walking into some grass… then more grass fields.. but eventually went back to the urban look again. Here’s a couple of my favorites:

ENGAGEMENT // Steph & John

John and I met almost 5 years ago, actually, it’s been over 5 years now. John, like myself, is a hardcore automotive enthusiast. He’s guided me and steered me in the right direction over these past years by suggesting top quality aftermarket car parts to me, finding deals and peer pressuring me into buying stuff I can’t afford, and then even employing me for a couple years. He always likes to claim that I am where I am today in the photography business because of him. Maybe it’s because I’ve photographed his cars numerous times which allowed me to get a bunch of practice, who knows, but when he asked me to shoot his engagement and wedding I thought “Oh jeez, not again.. (jk).”

Steph and John made the shoot all sorts of fun by bringing tons of props. It makes everything so much more entertaining and allows me to get a bit more creative with everything. We shot most of these in the Downtown/Montrose area; a nice change from Wortham Theater or random fields of grass. PORTRAITS // Trip to Austin!

I’ve been sooo busy lately, which is why you folks haven’t seen any updates from me. Anywhoos, I took these around two weeks ago. My friends GF wanted some shots of her and her two friends that are graduating this year so we hopped in a car Monday morning and headed out to Austin. I haven’t been to Austin in sooo long but it’s so awesome over there. We first headed over to Mayfield Park and then some mountain that I forgot the name of. Everything went great, weather was perfect, although it started to rain the moment we finished up. Right before leaving, my friend Alex told me of a place that has the most unhealthy sandwich so naturally I just had to try it. It was filled with mozzarella sticks, bacon, eggs, chicken, fries, mayo, and ketchup. It’s basically a heart attach inside of a sandwich, but an oh-so-good one.

I kept hearing stories that those big blue “chickens” at the park were mean, but I was kind of disappointed when I went up to one, it looked at me, and then walked away.

WEDDING // Tony & Nikki

Here’s the highlights from Tony and Nikki’s wedding they had recently on May 1st. There were lots of tears.. lots of laughter, and over all I had a lot of fun since I ended up knowing a few of the guests which always makes the day fly by a lot quicker. The photos are a mixture of mine and a few from Khanh @ Khanhfoto.com. We started around 9:30am so we can get a couple getting ready pics, then the usual tea ceremony, church ceremony, and reception, where everyone got wild as usual towards the end. I usually pick around 30-40 photos to post.. but I liked so many I decided to post over a 100, so go ahead and make some coffee while these load.

WEDDING // Ali & Sidra

I check the website statistics every often, and I’ve noticed there’s been tons and tons of people searching for Ali and Sidra’s wedding. Since it was basically three different wedding days, it’s taking a little longer than usual. As soon as exams are over this week coming up, I’ll be able to finish the rest up Sorry about the wait! But here’s one of the favorites so far we took after the last day of the wedding to hold you guys until the rest of them are available so stay tuned! ENGAGEMENT // Tony & Nikki

Ever since I saw engagement photos done in tall grass I have been dying to try it out. I remembered two years ago I found a spot that was in the middle of nowhere, yet only 15 minutes from my house. I went ahead and checked it out early in the morning and it was just what I had imagined, and even better. We ended up headed over there, along with some good ‘ole Wortham Theater shots towards the end. Tony and Nikki were awesome to work with and I look forward to shooting their wedding as well early next month
